McCaffrey Track & Field

When students return to McCaffrey Middle School they will be greeted with a new six-lane synthetic track surrounding an inner sod turf. This new all-weather track and field will not only benefit the students but support community health, City youth sports leagues, and provide a home to Special Olympics.

Description

McGuire and Hester is honored to have worked with S & B James Construction for the Galt Joint Unified School District. Our scope of work included clearing the open field, grade 2,830 LF of track curb and 8,500 SF of PCC pedestrian pavement, grade and install 33,000 SF of AC track pavement, grade and install 1,400 tons of AB, installation of 1,750 LF of storm drain pipe with 21 drain inlets, and installation of 1,100 LF of domestic/fire water supply piping.

The new track and field is one part of the future home of the Farm to Futures Center planned for the 18.6 acre site. The idea behind this development is to facilitate wellness through farm, fork, family, fitness, and futures. The fully planned development includes an orchard, gardens, and vineyards, as well as an Agri-Innovation Center that will house the Galt Horse Assisted Learning & Enrichment Program. Also planned is a community plaza as a venue for varied events and expansion for innovative learning for over 3,500 Galt students.
