Burlingame Point

Burlingame Point is a progressive commercial development built on waterfront land that used to be the home of the Burlingame Drive In that was closed and demolished in the early 2000’s. The 18.13 acre site consists of 4 office buildings, a 5 level parking garage, and a 2 level Amenity building. This project is not only one of the largest office developments in the San Francisco Bay Area, but will provide improved public access to the San Francisco Bay and Sanchez Channel that includes beautifully landscaped walking paths and open plazas. Facebook was so intrigued by the design and community aspects of this project that they signed a lease for the entire complex prior to construction completion.

Description

McGuire and Hester’s scope of work included 6.2 miles of pipeline, 12 pump stations, 152 foot pedestrian bridge, 3 overlook structures, and two traffic signals at two intersections. This project carried a few challenges such as multiple starts/stops, accelerated schedule, time constraints, and challenging soil conditions. We initiated redesign of multiple elements and acquired additional scope due to our multi-trade capabilities. We worked closely with the Bay Conservation & Development Commission (BCDC) on the shoreline work. We are honored to be a part of this project that revitalizes open space allowing community access to the waterfront and creates a workspace influenced by the light and water dynamics of the San Francisco Bay.
