Community
Involvement
Community commitment is one of our Corporate
Objectives:
Devote our time and resources to improve the communities in which we
live. McGuire and Hester and its employees are dedicated to making a
difference by donating our time, equipment, skills and financial
contributions through the McGuire and Hester Foundation.
McGuire and Hester sponsors a number of local
programs that support the communities in which we live and operate.
McGuire and Hester employees also donate their skills and talent to
support their local communities.

Oakland High School
Robert Doud, Executive Vice President - Company Operations, and Brock Grunt, Operations Manager
– Underground and Structures, were guest lecturers to three Oakland High
School engineering-focused classes. Robert and Brock educated the students
about the heavy civil engineering construction field. They introduced the
students to the bidding/estimating process. They gave them a case study on
the grading and paving of a basketball court. They also instructed the
students on the types of career opportunities available in the field
of construction.
- East Bay Habitat for Humanity
East Bay Habitat for Humanity provides affordable homeownership
opportunities for low-income families in the East Bay area. Homeowners
contribute directly to the program by investing 500 hours of labor towards
the construction of their home. Working alongside the homeowners are
thousand of volunteers. Together volunteers and homeowners build homes,
revitalize communities and kindle a sense of civic concern for one
another. McGuire and Hester and our employees have volunteered equipment,
time and skills to help build this community.
- East
Bay Zoological Society
McGuire and Hester donated resources toward the development of the New
African Elephant Exhibit at the Oakland Zoo.
- McGuire and Hester Crew Builds San Leandro Volley Ball Court
McGuire and Hester built a volley ball court in Marina Park for the
City of San Leandro as our way of saying thank you for keeping our crews
busy during the El Nino Winter. It was during the El Nino Winter of 1998 when we received an
emergency call from the City of San Leandro.
Having called on us before, McGuire and Hester was called out for
an emergency sewer collapse repair on Doolittle Avenue. McGuire and Hester and our employees were very thankful to
the City of San Leandro for choosing McGuire and Hester to do this project
which allowed our employees to keep working during the winter.
- Tree Planting in the
City of Oakland
On several occasions McGuire and Hester employees donated their
time and labor with the City of Oakland’s Office of Economic Development
to plant trees for the McArthur Corridor and the Fruitvale community.

Financial Support
Many Charitable organizations need financial
support to fund their charity programs.
Over the years McGuire and Hester has contributed funds to many
organizations including; Mt. Diablo YMCA, EUCA Golf Scholarship Fund, Boys
and Girls Club, Citation Homes Golf Charity, Little Sisters of the Poor,
and Hana Boys Center.
